Hui Medicine

Hui medicine is a mixture of Han medicine and Arab-Islam medicine. It was in the time of great prosperity in the Jin and Yuan period when there was a medical book, Hui Hui Yao Fang which included both Han-style medicines such as bolus, ointment, powder, liquid and Arabic medicines like aromatic compound, collunarium, alcoholic drink mixed with fruit juice, and syrup, etc.

In the long process of development, Hui medicine had formed its special characteristic, one of which being to mix drug with food, or curing disease when eating. For instance, the Hui people mix sesame oil and mirabilite together which is said to treat constipation, esophagus inflammation or cancer at an early stage.
