Projects for Beijing 2008 Games Well Underway

Construction of eight new venues is in full swing in Beijing. They are the National Stadium, the National Aquatics Centre , the Beijing Shooting Range Hall , the Laoshan Velodrome , the Wukesong Indoor Stadium, the National Indoor Stadium , the China Agriculture University Gymnasium and the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. The rest three will be launched in the third quarter of 2005.

Locations for the 41 training venues have been decided and construction for the new ones will begin in 2006 and be completed by the first quarter of 2008.

Four of the five related Olympic facilities, namely the National Convention Centre , the Digital Beijing Building , the Olympic Village and the Olympic Park, have seen their foundation stones laid. Construction of the last one, the Media Village, will be launched within the year. Six roads have been finished and four are under construction.

Plans for infrastructure construction and environment improvement will be carried out in the coming three years, and will be finished by the end of 2007.
