Floating Tour Route

Rafting on Maoyan River, Zhangjiajie, Hunan
Maoyan River is in the Yongding District of Zhangjiajie City, 30 kilometers from the downtown area. It is 50 kilometers long and the scenery on both sides of the river is beautiful. There are many shoals so that the water flows swiftly. Skin rafts transport tourists over 81 dangerous shoals. Beautiful places along the way include Suoyin shoal. Mandarin Duck Islet, and Hard-to-Cross River.

Rafting on the Mengdong River, Xiangxi Tujia Autonomous Prefecture
The Mengdong River Scenic Zone is in Yongshun County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture in Hunan, the birthplace of the Tujia nationality. The river flows through steep country with high cliffs and deep valleys. The waterway is narrow and the flow is rapid which makes the tour exciting. Tourists can see many Tujia style houses which are on stilts in the water at both banks. There are also the Xizhou bronze pillars, important cultural relics under the key protection of the state in the ancient town of Wangcun on the lower reaches of the river.

Rafting on the Dajiang (Nanpan River), Yunnan and Camping
This can be a two-day tour. On the first day tourists raft down the Nanpan River from Panxi on a rubber boat, staying overnight in a tent. On the second day the tour continues over rapids and shoals with marvelous scenery on either side. Tourists can land onto the sandy shores and swim. The total length of the tour is 45 kilometers. It is a thrilling but safe journey.

Shennong Stream Drifting on the Three Gorges, Hubei
The fast moving Shennong Stream, 60 kilometers long, has been a good place for rafting for years. Shennong Stream Scenic Zone at Badong is steep, quiet and very beautiful. The scenery along the side of the river changes and there are ancient suspended coffins and plank roads.

Rafting on the Yellow River in Ningxia
This is on the stretch between Shapotou in Zhongwei and Qingtong Gorge Tourist Zone. Tourists can raft on sheepskin boats and experience the thrill of passing over rapids.

Drifting down the Yellow River Valley, Shanxi
June, 2001 is the month for the trip. This is a water sports tourist activity which first started in Hukou Scenic Zone of the Yellow River in 1992. It is thrilling, dangerous, and interesting. It includes many tourist items of visiting Mengmen, playing with waves, adventure to Hukou, and Sanmen drifting. The Yellow River valley ecological route demonstrates the typical topography and landforms of the Loess Plateau. Other interesting aspects of the tour include the folk customs and folk legends, as well as the ancient culture and history of the river. This is an exciting tour on the water which carries the adventurous tourists through a landscape of mountains, rivers and valleys.

Drifting on Danjiang River, Shaanxi
Danjiang is in Danfeng County, Shangluo Region in Shaanxi Province. Xu Xiake, a famous traveler in ancient times drifted down the river on a boat to Yueri Shoal. The length of the river is 7.5 kilometers. The scenery on both sides of the river is beautiful. The flow of the river is sometimes rapid and sometimes slow which makes it more exciting. It is safe and brings tourists closer to nature.

Drifting down Daijiang River and Experiencing She Customs, Fuzhou
This is held on the middle reaches of Daijiang River at Huokou Township, Luoyuan County. The journey is 8 kilometers long and it takes 2-3 hours. The starting point is at the Holiday Garden on Gusong Island. Tourists can also participate in various activities in the garden including fishing, and listening to singling in an antiphonal style. There is also a barbecue. The end of the journey is at She Nationality Mountain Village. Tourists can stay at She-style bamboo or wooden houses, swim in the natural swimming pool, enjoy minority singing and dancing performances. They can also try the local flavored snacks and specialties.

Rafting on the Anhui Tianxian River
Tianxian River is 35 kilometers south of Yuexi County. It is 20 kilometers long and flows to the foot of Tianzhu Mountain, a national scenic area. Tourists can float on bamboo rafts down the river which carry them over rapids and shoals to provide excitement and the scenery at the same time. Experts on scenic tourism in China consider this tour the best of its type in China.

Rafting on the Zhusha River, Jinggangshan, Jiangxi
Starting from southeastern side of Jinggangshan, the rafting section of the river drops 65 meters. Summer and autumn are the best times to float down it. The water of Zhusha River is very clear all year round. The river turns and twists according to the terrain. Sometimes it flows rapidly, sometimes leisurely with deep pools. The mountains on both sides of the river rise steep and are covered with dense forests. It takes about one hour to complete the rafting journey.

Yellow River Rafting in Gansu
The setting for this is a 45 kilometer stretch from Hekou in Lanzhou to Zhongshan Iron Bridge in the city proper. The waterway is wide and suitable for rubber boats. Tourists can also travel on skin rafts from Shuicheyuan to Yazui Shoal or float from Xiahe to Liujiaxia Reservoir. The tours offer excellent scenery, folk customs, and visits to scenic spots along the way. Many people have made the tour and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Drifting down the Yellow River, Henzn
These tours are arranged from May to October every year at Zhengzhou, Luoyang, and Sanmen Gorge sections of the Yellow River. Tourists can experience the scenery of the Loess Plateau on both banks of the river, and visit Xiaolangdi Reservoir, the largest water conservancy project on the yellow River as well as the three gorges of the yellow River. Along the way there are the ruins of Pre-Qin Dynasty culture.
