Dalian Golden Pebble Beach Resort 大连金石滩 Located in northern suburb of Dalian, the Golden Pebble Beach is surrounded by water on three sides and consists of two peninsulas and a sea-water bathing coast. Ancient rocks of various shapes are scattered along the 8-kilometer-long coast and look like a natural geographical museum or a rock animal world. One rock resembles a dinosaur swallowing the sea, another one looks like a hedgehog or hawk, and one even has the profile of Beethoven. The Golden Pebble Beach can be regarded as a garden sculptured with unique geological scenery rarely seen anywhere else in the world. All the infrastructure projects have been completed at a cost of 2.1 billion yuan (US $ 253 million) for an initial area of 13.6 square kilometers. The first phase of the project, including a golf course, a yacht club, a hunting club and skiing facilities, was completed at the end of July 2000. The beach is an ideal place to relax with dense forests, soft sand, clear water and rich animal and plant life. The beach was listed as a key national scenic spot in 1988 and was approved as a national tourism resort in 1992 by the State Council. Golden Pebble Beach, as its name indicates, is bestowed with various spectacular pebbles. What’s more impressive here is its perennially moderate and moist climate, which makes the beach an ideal resort in Northeast China. After eight years of effort tourist facilities are now complete and include Jinshi Golf Course, Jinshi International Conference Center, Jinshi Waxworks Museum, Wedding Hall, Hunting Club, International Yacht Club, Model Theatre, to name but a few. Jinshi Golf Course joined the American Golf Society in 1995 and was rated as sixth amongst its member courses in 1999. Moreover, it was designated by the International Olympic Committee as one of the major courses for competitions in Asia. Jinshi International Conference Center covers an area of 37,000 square meters and provides a variety of services like business conference rooms, recreation, exercise rooms, accommodation and catering. Advanced facilities have been installed for international conferences. Jinshi Wedding Hall, with the theme of creating the “perfect match,” is equipped with a specialist choir and orchestra. Also provided is the wedding veil, make-up and wedding photographs. In the Hunting Club, there is an animal hunting area, flying saucer shooting range, bows and arrows, shooting range and other facilities, in which all kinds of shooting and hunting activities are available. At the Flower Base, a modern greenhouse covering 25,000 square meters has been constructed to provided a base for scientific research, production, sale and services. A 13-kilometer promenade has been constructed along the two peninsulas of the beach. The seawater baths are renovated. Street lamps have been erected, so that tourists can swim at night. The Film and TV Arts Center shows special programmes, including model shows and exhibitions of film and TV arts, as well as Chinese and Western arts. The Chinese Martial Arts House has been built to promote the exchange of martial arts between China and other countries and regions in the world.
