Jiangsu Province 江 苏 省 简 介 - Changzhou 常州市

Situated in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, Changzhou lies in the north of Lake Tai, south of the Yangtze River, and ancient Jinghang (Beijing-Hangzhou) Canal runs through the city. It is easy to access either by air or by rail to any part of the country. The city has a history of more than 2,500 years. The climate is mild and there are four distinct seasons. Of interest to visitors include the Heavenly Tranquillity Temple, Mooring Pavilion Park, Red Plum Park, Writing Brush Pagoda, and Liynag Tianmu Lake Tourism and Holiday Resort (known as a “bright pearl” in the south of the Yangtze River).

Chinese Dinosaur Park 中国恐龙园

Construction of the Dinosaur Park in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province started on September 20, 1997 and it was completed and opened to the public on September 20, 2000, taking three years to complete. Occupying an area of 3.33 hectares or 8.22 acres (33,235 square meters), about 197 million yuan (US $ 23 million) has invested in the museum (the first phase of the project), which exhibits rare mineral specimens, fossilized dinosaurs and primitive birds. Thirty-six dinosaur skeletons (fossils) discovered in China are on show in the hall, which is equipped with advanced audio and visual facilities. The Ministry of Land and Resources, China Geological Museum and the local government have all sponsored the hall.

Writing Brush Pagoda 文笔塔

Writing Brush Pagoda was first built in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), with a history of more than 1,000 years. The pagoda is an exquisitely built 7-storey high pagoda. The view from the pagoda at the top sweeps over the whole city. Within the pagoda ground there are some other points of interest, such as Red Plum Tower, Brush-Rest Rockeries, the Hall of Changzhou’s Historical Figures, Art Museum of Root Carving.

Yancheng City 淹城

With a history of more than 3,000 years, Yancheng City is the best-preserved ground city-state in China. There are three moat wall (built with earth) protection systems, encircled one after the other. Its construction is really unique throughout the world. The major scenic spots within the Yancheng City include Yancheng City Museum, Forest and Gehu Tourist Attraction.
